About

I learn by building things.

I am Om Jhamvar, an 11th grade student in Mumbai. I learn best by building things, writing about them, and doing both in public.

01 How I work

Make it real, then explain it.

I started this site so learning would have somewhere to go. Instead of stopping at a tutorial or a class, I try to turn what I am studying into something I can point at — a project, a system, or a piece of writing that will not let me stay vague.

That is also how I check whether I understood anything. If I cannot explain what I built and why a decision survived contact with execution — where it broke, what it cost to fix, what I would do the second time — I did not understand it yet.

A lot of that habit comes from watching sport as a system, not a highlight reel. Football, Formula 1, tennis, cricket, and the NFL are hours of tactics, decisions under pressure, and patterns over a season. I read code the same way.

Music is the long thread. I play guitar and piano, sing, and have performed at school concerts. LCM Grade 8 Guitar with High Distinction took years of graded exams; I am working toward the diploma. Daily practice is where I learned what patience actually costs, which is a more useful lesson than it sounds.

A month at Ashoka University on the Lodha Genius Programme was the first time my days were mostly mine to structure. The useful part was not the brochure — it was noticing that independence is a set of small choices, not a personality trait. I wrote that up in My Summer at Ashoka University .

02 Principles

Three habits I keep coming back to.

  1. Make it real

Turn what I'm studying into something I can point at — a project, a system, or a piece of writing.

  2. Explain the decisions

If I cannot say why a choice survived contact with execution, I did not understand it yet.

  3. Practise daily

Music taught me what patience actually costs — a more useful lesson than it sounds.

03 Currently

What has my attention.

Building French Coach — an AI speaking coach for IGCSE French learners — while reading widely on investing, financial markets, and how capital is allocated. Also thinking about how software and AI can make learning more effective without replacing the learner.

Updated

  • Building

    French Coach

Building an AI-powered French speaking examiner and learning system. The goal is to give every learner the kind of personalised speaking practice that normally requires a human tutor.

  • Learning

    Investing & Finance

Deepening my understanding of investing, financial markets, businesses, valuation, and how capital is allocated.

  • Exploring

    Technology & Learning

Exploring how technology can make learning more effective without replacing the learner. Interested in how thoughtful software and AI can adapt to the individual while keeping the learner actively engaged in the process.

04 What I build

Tools I wish I had.

The work on this site is narrow on purpose: software that gives a learner more useful practice than a classroom minute allows, and hardware when I need to understand a system in the physical world. Two projects are published so far.

French Coach

AI speaking practice for IGCSE French, because speaking is what students practise least.

Experiment

Line-Follower Robot

Autonomous line-follower with obstacle detection, clearance flap, and app control.

05Direction

A record, not a pitch.

The first reader is me in six months.

I am not using this site as a campaign. I am trying to keep an honest public record of how I think and what I can actually do — the projects, the writing, and the few credentials that have an issuing body. If that is useful to someone else later, good.
